2027: No Retreat, No Surrender In Rivers — Wike Vows To Reclaim Power

ABUJA – THE Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has declared that there would be no reversal of the decision taken to “restore power to the people of Rivers State” in the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the assertion on Wednesday during a “Thank You Visit” to Eleme Local Government Area of the state, stressing that the political course charted ahead of 2027 was firm and irreversible.
According to the minister, the decision includes mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and correcting what he described as a leadership mistake at the state level.
“We have done it before and we are going to do it again. We are prepared; we have made a decision and we are not going back. I want you to be strong. Nobody will intimidate us,” Wike said.
He insisted that financial inducement would not alter their resolve, warning that greed, ingratitude and the abuse of power often lead to political downfall.
Wike accused those currently entrusted with leadership in Rivers of being misled by money and power, adding that such tendencies had betrayed the confidence of the people.
Explaining the purpose of his visit, the minister said he was in Eleme to appreciate the people for standing firmly with President Tinubu despite political pressures.
“I have not taken your support for granted. In spite of all the troubles, Tinubu decided that I, a South-South person, should be the Minister of the FCT. This has never happened before,” he said.
He added that the scale of development currently being witnessed in the area and across the state had not been experienced before the Tinubu administration.
Earlier, a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Eleme, Chief Aforji Igwe, described Wike as “fair, just and a man of integrity,” pledging the continued support of the Eleme people.
Similarly, Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Chief Obarilormate Ollor, commended Wike for the infrastructural interventions carried out in the area during his tenure as governor.
Ollor assured the minister that the people of Eleme were solidly behind him and ready to follow his political direction, noting that while the people were already mobilised for Tinubu’s re-election, they were awaiting further guidance ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
