HoR Legislative Week: Ogundoyin Advocates Increased Citizen Engagement In Governance

IBADAN – The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin has emphasized the importance of citizen engagement in democratic governance.

Speaking at the House of Representatives Legislative Open Week, Hon. Ogundoyin stressed that inclusion and citizen engagement are essential components of democracy.

He praised the House of Representatives for their inclusiveness and collaboration with state legislatures, and assured that State legislatures would work with the National Assembly for a harmonized approach to citizen engagement and inclusive governance.

The Conference Chairman who encouraged State Assemblies to create enabling environments for more citizen participation, also urged them to ensure that voices of their constituents are heard and valued.

Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin acknowledged that Nigeria’s democracy is a work in progress which requires continuous improvement.

He expressed optimism that collective efforts would strengthen democracy and build a brighter future for Nigeria.

The Legislative Open Week aims to promote citizen engagement, transparency, and accountability in governance.
