Police Trail Fleeing Father Over Rape Of 14-Year-Old Daughter In Rivers

PORT HARCOURT – Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command are currently trailing a 45 year old father simply identified as Chinedu for allegedly raping his 14 year old daughter.
The fleeing suspect, a resident of Anozie street in Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, fled his house to evade arrest after learning that the Police were looking for him.
A neighbour of the victim told our correspondent that the suspect fled his house before the arrival of Police detectives from Azikiwe Division.

DAILY INDEPENDENT learnt that the Police became involved in the matter after the teenage girl was taken to the Azikiwe Police Division, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, where the matter was formally reported with the help of some concerned neighbours.
Our correspondent gathered that the victim’s neighbours became aware of the incestuous act after 14-year-old confided in them her ordeal in the hands of the father.
It was gathered that the teenage girl in her lodged statement, alleged that her father has been defiling her for the past two years.
Our correspondent further learnt that the mother of the 14-year-old girl, who is the estranged wife of the suspect, later arrived the neighbourhood and took her daughter away to where she was living.
In the meantime, a Rights Advocate, who doubles as the National Coordinator, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, Mr Prince Wiro has called on the victim’s neighbours with useful information about the whereabouts of the suspect to avail the Police so the suspect can be arrested and made to face justice.

Mr Wiro noted that the veracity of the allegation cannot be ascertained by the detectives if the suspect was not available for investigation.
