South West NANS has denied smear campaign against CBN Governor.

Naijanewshub.com.ng reports that the Southwest Zone D leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) has denied any smear campaign against the person of the Governor of the Central Bank Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

NANS in a press conference at the NUJ Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan debunked any report of smear campaign against the person of Godwin Emefiele, noting that it became imperative in view of the integrity of the authentic Southwest leaders of NANS and the need to protect the Nigerian youths and students from the vices of information disorder in the cyberspace.

While addressing journalists, the Coordinator, NANS Southwest Zone D, Tegbe Stephen said the person behind the smear campaign is not in whatever capacity recognized by the constitution of the association.

He said “NANS has received with dismay a report making the rounds that an imposter claiming the Southwest ONE leadership os the Association has launched a smear campaign against the person of Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele.

“The zonal executive of NANS wish to categorically dissociate this esteemed association from the said report.

“NANS is the voice of the millions of students of Nigerian descent all around the world and such a reputation as not built n the backs, sweat and sacrifices of many that precedes us, to be dragged into the mud by a set of selfish individuals that do not care to put in the work for credibility.

“Amidst pushing for a lasting solution to the overstretched strike action, the state of global economy and Nigeria’s fragile security situation, NANS would not ordinarily expend time or energy responding to undeserving attention seekers.

“However, it became imperative to debunk the report making rounds for the integrity of the authentic Southwest leaders of NANS, the infallible personality of the CBN governor and for the protection of Nigerian youths and students from vices of information disorder that bedevil our cyberspace in recent times.”

NANS however seized the opportunity of the press conference to appeal to the CBN to balance demands, especially of rising dollars against naira while stirring the country out of recession.
