Our Task Is To Intimidate, Take Over Oyo State In 2027 – Ganduje

ABUJA – The National Chairman of All Progreasives Congress (APC), Abdulahi Ganduje on Wednesday disclosed how the party will take over Oyo state in 2027.

Ganduje, who spoke when Oyo APC stakeholders led by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu paid him a visit in Abuja, boasted that the task of his party is to intimidate and take over Oyo state in 2027.

He said: “Oyo State is part of our blueprint which we call political party homogeneity. We have been looking for unity and uniformity in Oyo State. Now we are seeing elements of unity and uniformity.

“We are concerned about the unity of Oyo State and the unity of Nigeria and the homogeneity of the South West because our 2027 is a task that must be done.

“We will organise mega stakeholders meeting in Ibadan that will involve all the members of the party to the point that the opposition will be intimated.

“We made it clear when we came on board that it will not be business as usual. Political parties in developing countries are always active during election time.”

Ganduje further said: “Make sure that when I come to Ibadan next year, I will visit some of the offices. Three Senators, House of Representatives, we virtually have the government and all that it requires is to take the other half.

“The task before us and before 2027 general election is to recover our House of Representatives member seat we lost through death.

“The seat belongs to the APC and it is our duty to see that we must recover it. That election will come up around February but there must be primaries before then and you must be united to see that we have one consensus candidate.

“I have already told you our blueprint about President Bola Tinubu. Coming home as the son of the soil, he cannot afford to see a beautiful fowl without a head of the Vulture and Oyo State political party homogeneity is the answer.

“Anybody who is patriotic about the unity of this country, anybody in love with this country, should be happy that your geopolitical zone has produced the President.”

Explaining why they are at the party secretariat, Adelabu disclosed that division cost APC Oyo state.

He said APC has no reason to leave any state behind in the Southwest, adding that there must be homogenous party existence, victory and support from Mr President.

He said: “This team is officially paying a congratulatory visit to our Chairman on the recent victories that we achieved in Edo and Ondo States. We are confident that this victory will be extended to the remaining states in the Southwest and Nigeria.

“As the Chairman also mentioned, the strategy for the Southwest is homogeneity. But the President is from the Southwest. So we have no reason to leave any state behind in the Southwest. There must be homogenous party existence, victory and support from Mr President. So I want to congratulate Mr Chairman and his team for the wonderful feat they achieved in these two states.

“I also want to through you pass a personal message across to your friend, Mr. President for his efforts and support for the party. We believe that without his support, what we have witnessed in terms of these electoral victories wouldn’t have been possible.

“So we want to also thank him and congratulate him that under his watch, the party is going to record the highest number of states where we are going to establish governance and leadership. Help us pass this across to you, Mr President.

The second reason why we are here, as we mentioned, is to officially introduce and hand over the state’s exco, which is represented by our acting chairman and the state secretary.

Speaking further, the Minister said: “There is no faction in Oyo State APC again and we are more determined than ever before to take over the governance in Oyo State.

“I believe we lost the last two elections, not to non-popularity of the party in the states or due to lack of effort on our part. But it is division. A house that is divided against itself will surely fail. Oyo State is an APC State. We all know that.

“In 2019, when I was the Guber candidate of the party, we had divisions. We could not achieve effective reconciliation before the election. We had two senators and about 10 House of Representatives members. Two out of three senators and 10 out of fourteen House of Representatives members. So you know that Oyo State APC is a grassroots party and it is a party of the masses.”
