Police Inspector Shoots Self Dead In Rivers

PORT HARCOURT – A Police Inspector, identified as Maxwell Zabu who is said to be part of the personal security detachment of a former Port Harcourt City Mayor, Mr. Victor Ihunwo, former Chairman, has reportedly shot himself dead.
The ugly incident, it was learnt, happened in the early hours of Tuesday, at the private residence of the Ihunwo located in Eagle Island within Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Although details surrounding the death of the policeman remains sketchy as at press time, our correspondent gathered that the unfortunate incident was immediately reported at the Eagle Island Police, under the Azikiwe Police Division.
Our correspondent who visited the area following the incident observed detectives from the Azikiwe Police Division at the scene conducting preliminary investigation.
Responding, the Public Relations Officer for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, a superintendent of Police, disclosed that preliminary investigation.at the scene suggests the deceased police officer may have killed himself.
She however added that
investigation was in progress to ascertain what actually transpired leading to the incident.
It was however gathered that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju has directed the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt for discreet and thorough investigation.
