House To Join National Assembly’s Special Joint Sitting In Honour Of 2025 Democracy Day

ABUJA – The House of Representatives will participate in a Special Joint Sitting of the National Assembly scheduled for Thursday, June 12, 2025, as part of activities marking this year’s Democracy Day.
The information was officially communicated to Honourable Members through a circular issued on Sunday by the Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, Esq.
The Joint Sitting will take place at the House of Representatives Chamber within the National Assembly Complex. Proceedings are slated to begin at 11:00 AM, in anticipation of the arrival of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, by 12:00 noon.
In a statement signed by Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr., the House Spokesman, it stated that the event will be held under the theme:
“26 Years of Democracy: Renewing Our Commitment to National Development.”
President Tinubu will serve as the Special Guest of Honour and is expected to address the Joint Sitting in a Presidential Broadcast. Other highlights of the occasion include goodwill messages from former leaders of the National Assembly and the conferment of National Honours on selected lawmakers.
This historic gathering reflects the continued growth and resilience of Nigeria’s democratic institutions. It emphasizes the legislature’s enduring responsibility in promoting transparency, strengthening democratic governance, and contributing to Nigeria’s socio-economic progress.
