How Aransiola And I Survived A Near -Fatal Accident On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway – Bishop Wale Oke

IBADAN – The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has recounted how he and his long-time friend, Rev’d (Dr) Moses Aransiola, miraculously survived a near-fatal accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway decades ago.
Bishop Oke shared the testimony during a special thanksgiving service held to celebrate the 70th birthday of Rev’d Aransiola and his wife, Pastor Funmi Aransiola, as well as their 50 years in ministry. The event took place at the World Prayer Headquarters of Gethsemane Prayer Ministry, Eleyele, Ibadan.
The thanksgiving service was attended by prominent church leaders across the country, including the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye.
The congregation erupted in praise as Bishop Oke recalled the incident that happened nearly 50 years ago, describing it as a divine miracle that left onlookers stunned.
Narrating the experience, Bishop Oke said: “We have been friends for decades. We’ve shared so much and learnt from each other. In fact, it was Rev. Aransiola who taught me how to drive. He once showed me the gears in a vehicle — gear one, two, three, four, and reverse — and then handed me the fellowship bus.”
“I got in, started it, moved from gear one to two, then three and four. It was all fun until I needed to stop the bus — that’s when the trouble started.”
He continued, “On one occasion, while returning from Lagos, I was the one driving his Volkswagen Beetle. Aransiola fell asleep, and along the way, we had a serious accident. The car somersaulted, yet we both came out without a scratch. People stopped to help, amazed that we survived. God truly saved us that day. If we had died, today’s celebration wouldn’t have been possible.”
Wale Oke thanked God for preserving Aransiola’s life, praying:
“I pray that, if the Lord tarries, you will celebrate 80, 90, 100, and even 120 years. You are just entering the most fruitful years of your life.”
In his sermon, Pastor Adeboye urged Christians to remain focused and live according to God’s divine purpose. He described Rev. Aransiola as a true servant of God who discovered and committed to his calling early in life.
Also speaking, Bishop of Ilesa Diocese (Anglican Communion) and former Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Prof. Dapo Asaju, praised Aransiola for his steadfast dedication to the ministry of prayer.
“The Lord who called you will fulfill His purpose in your life,” Prof. Asaju said.
“Our lives are divine gifts, and God has crowned you with loving kindness, just as Psalm 103 declares. Who would believe you and Mama are 70? God determined your birth and your purpose.”
Rev. Aransiola, who referred to Pastor Adeboye and his wife as spiritual parents, prayed that as the congregation connects with the grace upon his life, their expectations would become reality. He also expressed deep gratitude to the senior church leaders who attended the event, praying that their ministries would continue to experience divine visitation.
