Just In: Makinde Approves Ladoja’s Nomination As New Olubadan, Coronation Slated For September 26

IBADAN  –  THE ancient city of Ibadan is set to witness history as preparations reach top gear for the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, on Friday, September 26, 2025.

The announcement has sparked jubilation across Ibadanland and beyond, as indigenes and residents eagerly await the formal installation of the revered monarch.
The coronation will not only mark the beginning of a new era in Ibadan’s traditional institution but also reaffirm the city’s rich cultural heritage.
Oba Ladoja, a former Governor of Oyo State, ascends the exalted throne of the Olubadan after decades of distinguished service to the people, both in politics and community development.
His enthronement comes with widespread support from traditional chiefs, political leaders, and cultural organizations across Yorubaland.
According to the Olubadan-in-Council, the coronation ceremony will attract dignitaries from all walks of life, including traditional rulers, top government functionaries, political leaders, captains of industry, and Ibadan sons and daughters in the diaspora.
The event is expected to further project Ibadan as a city of history, tradition, and unity.
Security agencies have assured that adequate measures are in place to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration, while hotels and event centers across Ibadan are already fully booked in anticipation of the historic occasion.
