Akande Sadipe Appeals For Calm Over Death Of Constituents Caused By Quarry Blast

IBADAN  –   A member, House of Representatives, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, has condemned quarry blasts that led to the death of some residents of the Orisunmbare community, along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Recall that activities on a quarry owned by Sequoia Minning Company limited, killed two residents of the Orisunmibare community in Oluyole Federal Constituency.

Sequel to this Akande-Sadipe, who represents Oluyole Federal Constituency of Oyo State, in a short reactionary statement on Tuesday said a team from her office will meet with the residents and management of Sequoia Mining Company limited.

Akande-Sadipe, who Chairs the House Committee on Humanitarian Services, assured the youths and residents of ongoing efforts to end the avoidable deaths of residents by appropriate authorities.

Hon. Akande-Sadipe in a press statement signed by his media aide sympathized with the affected families and community, appealing to the protesting youths, to remain calm.

She pointed out that while it is obvious that they are not happy, “I as your representative am not happy either. These senseless deaths need to stop. The companies need to practice best safety standards.”

In addition she raised the issue of the damages suffered by roads in the area due to the activities of the minning companies.

Hon. Sadipe appealed to concerned authorities in the local government area to do the needful on the responsibilities of these companies to the host communities, their security, its roads and social responsibility as a whole.

She equally called on all stakeholders for urgent actions to ensure peace.
