2027: Adelabu Seeks Party Unity, Throws Weight Behind Tinubu’s Second Term

IBADAN – THE Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has called for unity among party members across Oyo State as he supported youths, women, and leaders of the party with an economic relief fund worth ₦100 million through his Bayo Adelabu Foundation (BAF).
Adelabu, who is a governorship hopeful for the 2027 elections, made the call over the weekend, during the empowerment programme held in Ibadan, which drew APC faithful and stakeholders from the 33 local government areas of the state.
He emphasized that unity was the key to reclaiming power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027, urging members to close ranks and work together for the progress of the party.
“Oyo belongs to the progressives. We are the landlords, and by God’s grace, we are returning to Agodi Government House in 2027,” Adelabu declared, adding that the PDP currently occupying the state’s seat of power was only a “tenant.”
The minister also revealed plans to meet and reconcile with aggrieved members of the APC across the state, stressing that the party cannot achieve victory without internal harmony and collective effort.
“Politics is about inclusion, not division. I am reaching out to every aggrieved member because we must go into 2027 as one strong, united family,” he assured.
Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of party members, Adelabu pledged to roll out more empowerment and development programmes aimed at strengthening the APC’s grassroots structure and improving the lives of its members.
Delivering a lecture at the event, Dr. Stephen Lafenwa of the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan, said that political parties that empower their members,
especially youths and women, stand a better chance of winning public trust and electoral success.
“No political party can win public confidence without empowering its members,” he said, commending the APC in Oyo for prioritizing the welfare of its grassroots members while urging beneficiaries to make judicious use of the financial support.
In his welcome address, the Oyo State APC Chairman, Alhaji Olaide Abass, represented by the party’s Secretary, Alhaji Tajudeen Olanite, commended Adelabu for his consistent support, describing him as a dependable pillar within the party.
“The entire state now knows that APC is back on its feet, thanks to your efforts. As a representative of Oyo State in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, we are proud of the way you have represented us,” Abass said.
Dignitaries at the event included Alhaji Wasiu Ajimobi (younger brother of the late former governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi), the APC State Woman Leader, Alhaja Tinuade Adigun, Hon. Yemi Aderibigbe, Alhaji Isiaka Alimi, and Alhaji Wale Sanusi, among others.
