Ex-Reps Member Saheed Fijabi Forced Out Of APC Youth Summit In Ibadan

IBADAN – THERE was tension on Wednesday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State, as a former member of the House of Representatives, Saheed Akinaade Fijabi, was forced out of the venue following protests by aggrieved party youths.
Fijabi, who recently accepted an appointment from Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, as Chairman of the Oyo @ 50 Anniversary Committee, reportedly faced stiff opposition from youths who accused him of fraternising with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Trouble began shortly after Fijabi arrived at the summit venue, as some youths openly protested his presence, chanting slogans such as “We don’t want him” and “Send him out of this place.” The chants created a tense and rowdy atmosphere, momentarily disrupting the programme.
Efforts by party leaders and security personnel to pacify the protesters proved unsuccessful as the chants grew louder, forcing APC members at the venue to escort Fijabi out of the hall to prevent further breakdown of order.
Fijabi had earlier, during the unveiling of the Oyo @ 50 anniversary logo, hinted at the possibility of defecting to the PDP, a statement that has since generated controversy within APC circles in the state.
The incident highlights growing internal dissatisfaction within the Oyo State chapter of the APC, particularly among youth members, who view Fijabi’s recent engagements with the PDP-led government as a betrayal of party loyalty.
As of the time of filing this report, the APC leadership in the state had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
