Tinubu To Present 2026 Budget To National Assembly Friday, Senate Receives NDDC 2025 Proposal

ABUJA – PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to present Nigeria’s 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in a move expected to define the Federal Government’s fiscal priorities and policy direction for the coming year.
The budget presentation is anticipated to provide a clear roadmap for Nigeria’s economic management in 2026, outlining strategies for growth, fiscal discipline, and socio-economic stability under the Tinubu administration.
The development came as the Senate formally received the 2025 budget proposal of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Senate President Godswill Akpabio said the proposal is in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places emphasis on inclusive growth, poverty reduction, and balanced regional development, particularly in the Niger Delta.
Speaking during plenary, Akpabio described the NDDC budget as a critical instrument for tackling the persistent developmental challenges of the oil-producing region.
“The budget proposal we’ve received is an important tool for addressing the long-standing challenges facing the Niger Delta,” he said. “It is fully aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to uplift every Nigerian by promoting sustainable growth and poverty alleviation, especially in underserved regions.”
As preparations heighten for President Tinubu’s appearance before lawmakers, expectations are growing that the 2026 Appropriation Bill will clearly articulate the administration’s economic blueprint for addressing unemployment, reducing poverty, and bridging regional disparities.
