Rivers APC Now Stronger, More United Under Fubara — NWC Committees

PORT HARCOURT – COMMITTEES constituted by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have declared that the party in Rivers State is now stronger and more united under the leadership of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The committees, deployed to oversee delegate congresses ahead of the February 21 House of Assembly bye-elections, made the assertion after touring several constituencies across the state.
Addressing journalists at a joint press briefing, the chairman of the NWC-appointed committees said the party had witnessed renewed unity and confidence at the grassroots despite the lingering political crisis in the state.
Chairman of the Congress and Primary Committee for Ahoada East State Constituency II, Shehu Dange, said, reactions from party members showed widespread acceptance of the new leadership structure and growing enthusiasm within the APC.
Dange confirmed that Governor Fubara emergence as the leader of the APC in Rivers State had provided the party with direction and stability.
Dange said, “We have seen the reaction of the people. They are happy with the new development.
“Now the leadership is there. People are united. They have focus, direction and a leader they can look up to.”
He further disclosed that party members in several areas waited for hours in celebration, openly pledging loyalty to the governor and expressing readiness to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
“They have no doubts about their support. They are ready to give everything to actualise that dream,” he added.
On his part, the Chairman of the delegate Congress and party primary committee for Khana state constituency II, Ayoala Peter, described the situation within the party as encouraging, citing the enthusiasm of members during the congresses, even in areas faced with logistical challenges.
He also commended Governor Fubara for his cooperation and support, which they said contributed to the peaceful conduct of the congresses.
Peter expressed confidence that the prevailing atmosphere of unity would ensure the smooth conduct of the party’s primaries ahead of the bye-elections.
“Members showed eagerness, willingness and happiness to participate. They are pleased that the state governor has emerged as the leader of the party,” he said.
Meanwhile, the APC committees had earlier conducted ward congresses in Ahoada-East State Constituency II and Khana State Constituency II monitored by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to elect delegates that will vote in the party’s primaries ahead of the bye-elections.
Five delegates were elected from each ward in the constituencies.
