Igboho Pays Courtesy Visit To Olubadan

IBADAN — YORUBA self-determination activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Monday paid a courtesy and appreciation visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, following his reported removal from the Federal Government’s list of wanted persons.
Igboho arrived at the monarch’s Bodija residence in Ibadan accompanied by supporters, saying the visit was to thank the Olubadan for his role in resolving the issues that forced him into exile for several years.
His appearance in Ibadan followed reports that the administration of President Bola Tinubu had lifted the security designation placed on him, paving the way for his return to Nigeria.
Earlier, Igboho’s spokesman, Mr Olayomi Koiki, disclosed that the activist’s return was facilitated by the intervention of prominent Yoruba traditional rulers who appealed to the President on his behalf.
Koiki listed the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; and the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, among the monarchs who intervened.
Speaking during the visit, Igboho expressed deep appreciation to Oba Ladoja, describing him as a pivotal figure in his eventual freedom.
“I thank God for allowing me to meet the Olubadan. I never imagined he would be among those who would help me out of this challenge,” Igboho said.
He added that Yoruba people both within and outside Nigeria were delighted by his freedom and safe return home.
In his response, Oba Ladoja urged Igboho to remain calm and focused, reminding him that life itself is a source of hope. The monarch also offered prayers for Igboho and his family, wishing them peace and divine guidance.
The visit was witnessed by supporters and sympathisers, who described the development as a significant turning point in Igboho’s long-standing case.
