SAO Petroleum Commends Makinde, Fire Service Over Swift Response To Ibadan Retail Outlet Inferno

IBADAN – THE management of SAO Petroleum has commended Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State and Federal Fire Services, and other stakeholders for their swift response to a fire incident that gutted one of the company’s retail outlet in the Jericho area of Ibadan.
The company said the prompt intervention of the fire services and security agencies helped to contain the inferno and prevented further losses.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Managing Director of SAO Petroleum, Mr. Adewumi Oladiti, and made available to journalists on Saturday.
According to the statement, the fire incident occurred on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the company’s Jericho outlet in Ibadan, Oyo State.
“On behalf of the management and staff of SAO Petroleum, we wish to express our deepest appreciation to the Oyo State Government, the host community, the Federal and State Fire Services, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), SweetCo, Zartec, the Nigeria Police, Oyo State Command, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Amotekun Security Network, other security outfits, our customers, and good samaritans who rallied around us during the unfortunate fire incident,” the statement read.
While expressing sadness over the losses recorded, the company thanked God that no life was lost in the incident.
“Though we are deeply saddened by the losses, we are grateful that no lives were lost. We also appreciate the volunteers and members of the public who assisted in containing the fire and offered support during this challenging period. Your solidarity means a lot to us as a company,” the statement added.
SAO Petroleum further assured its customers that the incident would not affect its operations or commitment to quality service delivery.
“Despite this unfortunate incident, we assure our esteemed customers that this development will in no way hinder our commitment to delivering the best services at all times.
“As the year progresses, we remain grateful for the love and loyalty of our customers, which continue to inspire us to do even better,” the company stated.
