Oyo Council Chairmen Commend OYCSDA As Agency Completes 316 Micro-Projects

IBADAN – THE Chairman, Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA), Hon. Abideen Adetokunbo Adeaga has announced that the agency completed the total of 316 micro-projects in 144 communities across Oyo State under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
This is as the Chairman, Oyo State Chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Sikiru Sanda, has commended the State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA) for spreading developmental projects across the State.
Hon. Sanda, commended the agency in his goodwill message at a workshop organized by OYCSDA for Local Government Executive Chairmen, Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) and Local Government Desk Officers on the awareness and Local Government Review Committee (LGRC) of NG-CARES 2.0 micro-projects implementation procedures, which held at the House of Chiefs, State Secretariat, Ibadan today.
Sanda used the opportunity to charge local government Chairmen and HLGAs to see the micro-projects funded by OYCSDA in their domains as theirs and work towards their sustainability.
“With the help of OYCSDA, most communities across Oyo State have benefited many projects, we commend this agency for not politicizing the project location and urge them not to derail in their monitoring system to ensure quality and timely delivery.
“I am using this opportunity to assure OYCSDA that my colleagues who are Council Chairmen will not hesitate to provide support for these projects in our domains,” he stated.
In his keynote address, the Chairman, OYCSDA, Hon. Abideen Adetokunbo Adeaga, appreciated the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for providing funds for implementation of the micro-projects, which he said have benefited many households and residents of the State, in the areas of education, community healthcare, erosion control and provision of portable water.
He said the agency has funded three hundred and sixteen (316) micro-projects in one hundred and forty-four (144) communities in all the local government areas across the State.
“At this juncture, let me express my unreserved and heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Oyo State for the unalloyed support to the Agency.
“As captured in the “Roadmap to Sustainable Development 2023-2027” Omituntun 2.0, His Excellency is determined not only to ameliorate the situation of the people of the State but take us from poverty to abundant prosperity.
“It is in the quest to achieve this lofty goal that His Excellency approved the release of enormous fund that is unprecedented in the history of the Agency, to provide simultaneously under NG-CARES 1.0, Three Hundred and Sixteen (316) micro-infrastructural projects in One Hundred and Forty-four (144) communities across all Local Government Areas in the State.
“The projects have now yielded desired outcomes such as increased school enrolment, drastic reduction in out-of-school children, downward trend of incidences of water-borne diseases and easier access to potable water, easy access to and fro communities due to better roads and improved access to healthcare by more residents of the State.”
In his welcome address, the General Manager, OYCSDA, Mr Jelili Salau also commended the State governor for prioritizing community development by funding micro-projects in communities across the State.
Salau informed the gathering that the all the projects funded by OYCSDA have been completed and are undergoing maximum utilization.
The General Manager went further to solicit supports of the local government Chairmen and the HLGAs for the smooth working conditions for the Desk Officers in their different councils.
The event was attended by executive chairmen of local government areas of Oyo State and their Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs), alongside the local government Desk Officers in charge of OYCSDA micro-projects, representatives of the Ministry of Budget and Planning, the State’s Auditor-General office and the State Care Coordinating Unit.
The workshop, which was aimed at harnessing collaborative efforts of local government stakeholders on their roles and responsibilities in projects intervention has the themes “Awareness, Roles and Responsibilities of LGA/LGRC on The Implementation of NG-CARES 2.0,” “Establishing The LGRC in NG-CARES 2.0 Activities” and “The Journey So Far” and were presented by Mrs Bode Raji, Mr Ayorinde I.O and Mr Biliaminu Olanrewaju respectively.
