Police Nab Suspected Kidnapper, Rescue Victim In Oyo Villages

IBADAN — THE Oyo State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim and arrested a suspect following coordinated attacks by armed hoodlums in parts of the state.
According to a statement by DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the breakthrough came after the Atiba Division received a report that about eight armed men had invaded Otefon Village in the early hours of Monday.
The attackers abducted Taiwo John, 40, popularly known as “Ogo Oluwa,” and reportedly stole an undisclosed sum of money belonging to the victim’s wives, as well as his mobile phone.
While responding to the Otefon incident, the police said a related report emerged from Ikoyi-Ile Division, indicating that the same group had struck Amalu Village via Ahorọ Dada, abducting another resident, Usman Amadu. Authorities described the incidents as coordinated attacks within the same operational corridor.
Following the reports, the Command activated its anti-kidnapping response strategy, deploying tactical teams to strategic locations across the affected areas.
DSP Olayinka stated, “Through intelligence-led surveillance and coordinated bush-combing operations, our operatives successfully rescued one of the abducted victims unharmed and arrested Ibrahim Sani, who has confessed to his involvement in the attacks.
He is currently assisting investigators to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and recover additional evidence.”
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes.
He urged the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information, emphasizing that community cooperation remains crucial for ensuring safety.
