Oyo Speaker Ogundoyin Receives NYSC Coordinator, Pledges Support For Camp Infrastructure, Corps Welfare

IBADAN — THE Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has received the leadership of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Oyo State, led by the State Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, on a courtesy visit to his office in Ibadan.
The meeting focused on key challenges confronting the scheme in Oyo State, particularly issues relating to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp and the growing number of Corps Members posted to the state annually.
The Speaker appreciated the NYSC leadership for the visit and acknowledged the vital role the scheme continues to play in youth empowerment, national integration, and grassroots development.
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin assured the delegation of the Assembly’s readiness to explore legislative and institutional avenues to support improvements in camp infrastructure and welfare initiatives for Corps Members.
“We recognize the importance of providing a conducive environment for our young graduates serving the nation. The House will continue to support initiatives that enhance their welfare and enable them to contribute meaningfully to community development in Oyo State,” Ogundoyin stated.
The Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters had earlier highlighted the urgent need for additional accommodation facilities at the permanent orientation camp to cater for the ever-increasing influx of Corps Members.
He noted that the expansion of camp infrastructure has become necessary to ensure convenience, safety, and effective coordination of orientation exercises.
The NYSC Coordinator also raised concerns about other logistical needs required to enhance camp operations, improve service delivery, and boost the overall welfare of Corps Members deployed across Oyo State.
He emphasized the importance of strategic collaboration with the Oyo State House of Assembly in addressing these challenges.
Mr. Peters commended the Assembly for its previous support and expressed optimism that deeper legislative partnership would significantly strengthen the activities of the Corps in the state.
