Bandits Demand N1B Ransom For 15 Abducted Worshippers In Ekiti Community

EKITI — LATEST report said bandits have demanded a whooping N1billion ransme to free the 15 abducted worshippers in Eda Oniyo,a community in Ekiti State .
The victims were seized during a vigil in the community while the pastor was not so lucky ,as he was shot dead by the gunmen.
The traditional tier of the town,”the Eleda of Edaoniyo-Ekiti, Oba Joseph Awolola who confirmed the report said the kidnappers who abducted the worshippers are demanding N1 billion as ransom from the community to set the people free”
At Eda-Oniyo, the traditional council which compromise 6 traditional rulers in the area, are currently meeting and deliberating on the sad incident to proffer solutions to government and residents.
Another monarch in the area, Oba Bamidele Adetutu Ajayi, called on the police in the state not to inform the public when they want to go for bush combing to avoid informant from getting better information. He said those who don’t want peace to reign within them are in the communities.
He suggested that government should make pronouncement that religious activities should not go beyond 6:00p.m, for the safety of all to avoid this ugly situation.
The Chairman, of the local government council, Hon. Pius Alaba, said about 15 persons or more were kidnapped during the vigil.
According to the Chairman, before now, they have sent message before now to CAN to urged the people to stop all forms of vigil or religious gathering that will last more than 5.00p.m, due to the security situation in the country.
The chairman of the Ilejemeje traditional council, Oba J. A. Akintola, who said he has been on the throne for 37 years, urged the police authority to continue their good work to the nation but noted that the influx of people from the neighboring states is a challenge to the security situation and the peaceful co-existence.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s delegation led by the Special Adviser on Security, Brig..Gen.Ebenezer Ogundana, sympathized with the people and the traditional ruler on the sad development, but added that for three weeks now the state have commenced bush combing around here to avoid incursion from boarder states of Kogi and Kwara State.
Ogundana, said government will look for the kidnapper and bring them to book.
“Government will also rescue the worshippers saying security agencies, the army, police, Amotekun corps are around the bushes track down the kidnappers.
“Government is making sure that there is peace in the state and to make sure Ekiti is safe for the people”.
Mr. Falade Micheal, the C.P in Ekiti State pointed out that the police in the morning of Tuesday still patrol the community but the police did not know that there was going to be a vigil, in the community.
