IBADAN — A prominent Oyo-born influencer and philanthropist, Alhaji Akinkinmi Saheed Siyanbola, widely known as Omo Iya Kunmi, has announced the 6th edition of the Oyo Social Media and Distinguished Personalities Awards, an initiative aimed at celebrating excellence, influence, and impactful contributions across Oyo State.
Siyanbola, who is the founder of the OmoIyaKunmi Foundation, has earned recognition for his commitment to youth empowerment, community development, and initiatives that promote social recognition within the state.
According to information made available by the organisers, this year’s edition of the awards will feature a total of 49 honours across multiple categories.
These include 29 awards in the social media category, 15 for distinguished personalities, three outstanding excellence awards, and two posthumous recognitions.
The ceremony, designed to spotlight individuals who have excelled in social media influence, leadership, creativity, and community service, is scheduled to hold on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
The event is expected to draw influencers, policymakers, public figures, and stakeholders from within and outside Oyo State.
Speaking ahead of the event, the organisers emphasised the importance of recognising individuals who use their platforms for positive impact.
They noted that the awards aim to encourage responsible digital engagement and inspire a new generation of socially conscious youth.
The organisers also called on corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals to support the initiative through sponsorships and strategic partnerships, stressing that such collaborations are essential to sustaining and expanding its impact.
