Ambassador Akinremi Bolaji Joins Oyo South Senatorial Race

IBADAN — THE Former Nigerian High Commissioner to Singapore and retired public servant, Ambassador Akinremi Alade Bolaji, has formally joined the race for the Oyo South Senatorial District seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ambassador Bolaji has obtained, completed, and submitted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest for the senatorial ticket.
Speaking on his aspiration, Bolaji described his candidacy as “not merely a political ambition, but a call to service,” stressing that his vision for Oyo South is anchored on institutional reforms, accountable representation, and sustainable development.
According to him, his wealth of experience in public service and diplomacy places him in a strong position to connect Oyo South with federal opportunities, global partnerships, and strategic investments.
He said: “My vision for Oyo South combines institutional memory with reform expertise, wisdom with innovation, and diplomacy with grassroots empathy. I am committed to attracting strategic investments into Oyo South through my diplomatic networks and public sector experience.”
The former envoy listed his priorities to include strengthening education and institutional reforms, promoting value-driven and accountable representation, and fostering intergenerational bridge-building across communities in the senatorial district.
Bolaji also pledged to align his programmes with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda by expanding youth empowerment initiatives through skills acquisition, digital transformation, and enterprise development.
He further promised to leverage federal connections to facilitate infrastructure development and stimulate economic growth across Oyo South Senatorial District.
Political observers believe his entry into the race may further reshape the contest within the APC ahead of the party’s primary election.
