IBADAN   —   A leading aspirant in the 2027 Oyo State governorship race, Chief Bimbo Adekanmbi, has pledged to consolidate and expand the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration if elected.

Adekanmbi, a former Commissioner for Finance in Oyo State and widely believed to enjoy the backing of Governor Makinde, made the pledge on Monday during a private consultation visit to the Music House headquarters of Fresh FM Nigeria in Ibadan, where he met with renowned broadcaster and media entrepreneur, Yinka Ayefele.

The visit, according to sources close to the aspirant, forms part of ongoing political consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.

Speaking during the meeting, Adekanmbi described Ayefele as an elder brother, mentor, and dependable ally whose contributions to the socio-economic development of Oyo State through the media remain invaluable.

He stated that his ambition is driven by a desire to sustain the developmental momentum already established by the current administration while introducing deeper reforms across key sectors.

“I am committed not only to consolidating the remarkable achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde but also to deepening reforms in critical sectors to ensure sustainable growth and improved living standards for our people,” Adekanbi said.

He stressed that continuity in governance remains essential to preserving ongoing projects and institutional reforms initiated under the Makinde administration.

Responding, Ayefele urged the governorship hopeful to remain steadfast in his commitment to people-oriented governance and sustainable development.

The Fresh FM founder noted that residents of Oyo State are more interested in leadership that will sustain progress rather than reverse the gains recorded in recent years.

“Governance is a serious responsibility. Whoever succeeds Governor Makinde must justify the confidence reposed in them by the people through accountability, courage, sincerity, and performance-driven leadership,” Ayefele stated.

Also speaking, the Group General Manager of Fresh FM Nigeria, Alhaji Abolade Salami, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to professionalism and responsible journalism.

He assured that the media would continue to support initiatives that promote public interest while holding political leaders accountable to the people.

Other personalities present during the visit included senior management staff and presenters of Fresh FM, among them Isaac Brown and Adebayo Faleke.
