IBADAN  —   COMRADE Femi Awogboro, the media aide to the immediate past Minister of Power and 2027 APC gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has warned individuals associating Ajiboye Sangogade, Adelabu’s Personal Assistant, to the recent kidnap of the ex-minister’s sister and twin nephews in Ibadan to desist from the fabricated narrative.

A statement by Awogboro said Ajiboye Sangogade has no involvement in the kidnapping incident, warning those peddling the rumour to desist or face legal actions.

The statement described the allegations against Adelabu’s PA as false, malicious, and uncalled for. He stated, that those pointing accusing fingers at Sangogade were only trying to tarnish his image and good reputation.

According to him, the recent press statement and interview by the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Ayanlade Olayinka, concerning the kidnapping incident, exonerated Ajiboye Sangogade from the allegation as his name was never mentioned in the police briefing as part of the kidnapping syndicate.

Awogboro further queried those spreading the rumour, to point out where the Police Public Relations Officer mentioned Ajiboye Sangogade in his briefing. He stressed that the police spokesperson only mentioned one Segun in connection with the case and never linked Ajiboye Sangogade to the incident in any way.

Awogboro argued that those alleging Sangogade’s involvement are doing so to score political points. He said they should note that everything is not politics.

He said their “lies and cook-up stories” have been exposed by the police account of the incident. These same set of people also lied against Adelabu by claiming that he ceded the party ticket for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency Bye-Election to his PA, Ajiboye, who is not from the constituency. Meanwhile, Hon. Wale Olatunji Murphy emerged as the flagbearer of the party for the election.

“This is not their first time of peddling lies and rumours, so we want to urge the public and party members not to fall for their tricks.

“It has come to our notice that some individuals, who are enemies of progress and of the state, are peddling rumours that the Personal Assistant to Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Ajiboye Songogade, orchestrated the kidnapping of Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s sister and nephews in Ibadan,” the statement read.

The aide further described Songogade as a man of good reputation with impeccable pedigree and antecedents.

He insisted that Songogade could not and would not be involved in such an act, adding that those spreading the fake news are defaming Songogade’s impeccable character.

“We therefore reject the claim in totality because we know he doesn’t know or have a hand in the incident as being speculated ,” Awogboro stated.

He, however, warned that any further attempt to tarnish Songogade’s image and reputation would be rejected vehemently as the camp would ensure that whoever is found guilty is brought to justice.
