In Delta, Police Foil Kidnap Attempt, Arrest Suspect, Recover Guns, AK 47 Ammunition

The operatives of Delta State Police Command said they have foiled attempt by kidnappers to carry out   kidnap operation in the State.

Naijanewshub.com.ng gathered that the operatives disclosed that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the failed kidnap and armed robbery operation.

They further revealed that 49 rounds of 7.62  AK47 ammunition and two pump action ruffles have so far been recovered from the gangs.

Bright Edade,  Police Public Relations Officer( PPRO),  Delta State Command who confirmed the arrest and recovery of deadly exhibits, said that  on May 10, 2023, at about 10.40pm, while the ‘B’ Division, Ughelli patrol team, was on anti-crime patrol along Agbarha-Ughelli Road,  were overtaken in a suspicious manner by a Qlink motorcycle with Reg. no. SKL 554 VD.

The motorcycle,  according to Edafe, a Deputy Superintendent of Police ( DSP), was carrying   three  male occupants.

He said that the operatives chased the fleeing men, during which the trio  hurriedly abandoned the motorcycle and fled into the bush, leaving behind their motorcycle and a bag.

“When the bag was searched, one  pump action gun loaded with two  live cartridges, forty-nine  rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered along with the motorcycle.”

He said investigation was ongoing, adding that efforts are in place to apprehend fleeing suspects.

In another development, the police image maker said that on May 11, 2023  at about 11.Pham,  while operatives of Eagle-Net were on patrol along Oreorokpe-Sapele road, “intercepted a commercial mini bus  for a routine search.

“During the search, they recovered a locally made single barrel gun with five  live cartridges  concealed in a bag found in possession of one Diarhe Oghenemarho, a 25-yr-old young man from   Okpara Inland Waterway Community, Ethiope East LGA.

“The suspect was arrested and taken to the police station. During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed that he belongs to the notorious Eiye confraternity cult group and that his syndicate has been terrorizing  Warri and Ughelli axis.

“He also confessed to be a member of an armed robbery/kidnapping gang, and his gang leader is one David Oghotomo Mathew a.k.a “cucumber.”

Edade said  the suspect and exhibits are in custody, while  investigation was ongoing.
