IBADAN   –  A governorship hopeful and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Hon. Olayinka Segelu, has felicitated Christians across the state on the occasion of Christmas, urging them to embrace the virtues of love, kindness, unity, and selfless service as exemplified by the birth of Jesus Christ.

In a Christmas goodwill message made available to newsmen on Thursday, Segelu described the festive season as a period of deep reflection, renewal of faith, and collective responsibility toward building a more harmonious and inclusive society.

He congratulated Christians in Oyo State for witnessing another Christmas celebration, noting that the season offers a unique opportunity to strengthen bonds within families, communities, and the nation at large.

“Christmas reminds us of the enduring power of love, sacrifice, humility, and compassion. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, I urge all Christians to allow these values to guide their daily interactions and contributions to the growth and development of our society,” he said.

Segelu further called on the people of Oyo State to use the season to promote peaceful coexistence across religious, ethnic, and political divides, stressing that unity remains a critical ingredient for sustainable development and collective progress.

Acknowledging the prevailing economic and social challenges confronting many families, the PDP chieftain encouraged citizens not to lose hope but to remain steadfast, prayerful, and supportive of one another during and beyond the festive period.

He also urged leaders at all levels to draw lessons from the true essence of Christmas by prioritising the interests, welfare, and wellbeing of the people above personal or political considerations.

Segelu concluded with a strong note of hope and commitment, saying:

“As we celebrate Christmas, let us renew our collective resolve to build an Oyo State founded on compassion, justice, and shared prosperity. Leadership is a sacred trust, and I remain committed to serving our people with humility, courage, and an unwavering devotion to the common good.”

He wished Christians in Oyo State and across Nigeria a joyful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year.
