Afenifere Receives, Promises To Work On Submissions Of S’West Summit

AKURE   –   A subgroup within the Pan Yoruba socio-cultural organisation(Afenifere), the Afinefere Intelligentsia Group, has received and promised to work on the submissions of the just concluded Southwest Summit.

The group, comprising the most accomplished professionals and intellectuals in the region, has reviewed the submissions from the Southwest Summit and made commitment to working on the Southwest Development Plan 2050.

Abagun Kole Omololu, the National Organising Secretary of Afenifere, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday in Akure, Ondo State capital.

He disclosed that the group has decided to break down the Southwest Development Plan 2050 to short-term, medium-term and long-term.

Omololu stated that the group would explore all existing platforms in the region to actualise the development plan.

The statement reads in parts: “The Afenifere Intelligentsia Group, comprising the most accomplished professionals and intellectuals in the region, having reviewed the submissions from the Southwest Summit, has committed to working on the Southwest Development Plan 2050.

“This development plan will be broken down into short-term goals (2026-2030), medium-term goals (2031-2040), and long-term goals (2041–2050).

“This elite group will work through and utilize established platforms to actualize its goals, including the South West Governors’ Forum, the Southwest Development Commission (SWDC), the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) and the Odua Group, and other relevant organisations in Yoruba land.”
