IBADAN – THE General Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the United Kingdom and a senatorial aspirant for Kogi Central, Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro, has joined well-wishers across the country to celebrate former Osun State Governor and elder statesman, Chief Bisi Akande, on his 87th birthday.
Chief Obaro, who flew in from the United Kingdom specifically to honour the occasion, described Chief Akande as a consummate nationalist, a principled political leader, and a committed democrat whose contributions have significantly shaped Nigeria’s political evolution at both state and national levels.
He praised the former interim national chairman of the APC for his integrity, moral authority, discipline, and unwavering commitment to democratic ideals, noting that Akande’s exemplary life of service continues to inspire present and future generations of leaders across the country.

Obaro, who was accompanied by an Osun APC chieftain, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, visited the country home of Pa Adebisi Akande in Ila-Orangun, Osun State, where the birthday reception was held.
During the visit, Chief Obaro offered prayers for continued good health, long life, and sustained wisdom for the elder statesman, describing him as a guiding light whose counsel remains vital to Nigeria’s political future.
“To celebrate Baba Akande in person is a privilege. His legacy of courage, discipline, and service to the nation stands as a benchmark for leadership in Nigeria,” Obaro said.
The celebrant, Chief Bisi Akande, expressed delight at the visit and warmly appreciated the gesture, commending Obaro for the show of solidarity and respect.
