IBADAN – THE Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Akeem Olatunji, has celebrated Honorable Akintunde Olajide, fondly known as AKT, describing him as one of the steady hands shaping democratic governance and socioeconomic growth in Oyo State.
In a congratulatory message released on Wednesday in commemoration of the lawmaker’s birthday anniversary celebration, Olatunji said such moment offered a good time to reflect on the quiet but firm impact the lawmaker has made over the years.
He noted that the two-term legislator has shown courage, enhanced legislative skills, and unusual consistency in the 9th and 10th Oyo State House of Assembly, especially in the way he approaches lawmaking as a tool for development rather than a ceremonial duty.
Olatunji pointed to AKT’s leadership as chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, saying his work often helps to steady local administration and resolve sensitive grassroots and traditional institution issues with tact and fairness.
According to him, that committee role demands calm judgment, and AKT has proven to be one of the lawmakers local government authorities rely on when tensions rise or when reforms are on the table.
He added that Oluyole has felt the effect of AKT’s representation through interventions that touch roads, community development efforts and oversight functions that push for efficiency among local councils.
In his words, legislators like AKT help link policy debates in the Assembly to real needs in various communities at the grassroots.
Olatunji described the celebrant as disciplined, respectful of institutions and deeply committed to the idea that governance must improve people’s daily lives.
He said AKT’s style may be modest, but the results leave a lasting impression across his constituency and the larger Oyo political landscape.
He prayed for more strength and clarity of purpose for the lawmaker, noting that Oyo State still needs experienced voices to navigate the challenges of development.
“Today is not just about celebrating a birthday. It is also about acknowledging the steady contribution of a man who understands what public service should mean,” Olatunji said.
He wished AKT a fulfilling new year and reaffirmed Oluyole’s support for his ongoing legislative work particularly in the areas of oversight and intergovernmental collaboration.
