Economy Hardship: Youths Express Anger, Frustration, Call On Leaders To Reduce Suffering

IBADAN – No fewer than six writers have come together to produce an anthology expressing the feelings of anger, frustration on how political leaders run the country.
The book entitled “All Colours Of Madness” is co-authored by Yusuf Eslah Sibraim, Miss Odion-Osigwe Emike, Miss George Vanessa, Oreoluwa Asala, Oyinda Depo Oyedokun and Ekpenisi Nwajesu.

Briefing journalists at Alumni Building of the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo state Capital, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Emotion Press, Mr Folarin Olaniyi maintained that the lovers of books will surely enjoy the book when it’s officially launched.
Folarin said, “This book will address ways on how to address anger, the book was co-authored by six different writers led by Mr Martins Abuah will be officially launched in October.”
“To know what anger really means in single term, “All Colours of Madness is the answer, so am using this opportunity to welcome all the book lovers and lovers of literature around the world to this book as we are set to release it to the book stores in Nigeria.
“The entire Emotion Press crew have worked tiredness for the past seven months to bring this book to reality and I hope that educational institutions in the country will recommend for academic.
“Am equaling calling on President Tinubu to feature the book and so it can make the list for year 2024 and 2025 as part of their contributions toward the collection of the new culture in Nigeria.” Folarin said.
Miss Vanessa George in her contributions said, “I’m privileged to be part of this book, first I know people that have worked together on this particular book are people that when I saw their literature works it’s so beautiful, this is going to be a great project, we have common vision about the project.”
“My story about anger, I think everyone should feel at a certain point of their life because when it is about family and pressure, it might not come in the way my story was penned down, but also feel like there are also pressures from nuclear or extended family to fit into something that you are not and then at the end you realize that you are actually living your life for the family.”
“The good thing is family has a very vital role in our life but it is our life and it should be based on how we want to do it and if we submit to God, it should be us not what others expect from us. Sometimes anger may be from disappointment after praying, hoping and everything come down crashing before your eyes, disappointment and anger can stem from there particularly as Nigerians we are faced with so many disappointments and call it different name like frustration.
“I am really happy about some other stories we talked about in the book and I know it is going to be impactful. Hope in people is being dashed, like we talked about students and adults, it is still the same but different anger, we are angry at the government, at ourselves, Yoruba to Igbo, everybody is angry, you are even angry at yourself just because of the situation of things in the country.
“Angry with yourself for not doing things better than it should have been done. I personally have learnt how to forgive, forgive others and the mistake we have made, that’s the only time we can be able to allow love and healing to come to us. When we forgive, there will be a way forward, we can love when there is love, there will be automatic unity, we can come together to provide solution and listen to one and another contributions. Vanessa said.
Odion- Osigwe Emike said “I particularly love this project because it was a conversation that I don’t know that so many people will have opinion on it, everybody makes us angry from government, to our parents, lack of jobs, and so many others.
“It seems like generational anger with no solution, so when they told us that we should write around it ,I started thinking about how anger was being forced on us. It is a normal thing we do everyday, that just allowing us to be angry, there is no harm in being angry, but when anger is not expressed, it has effect on not just your life but in your community. It will lead to bad government and toxic practice, during our last protest, some people were not angry enough.

“Looking at the leaders in power, I don’t have any hope in this country but for the leaders that will potentially rise up, I have hope in them.”
The Publisher of the book, Mr Folarin said, “I think the political landscape of Nigeria can be set to be egalitarian in the sense that the older generation keep putting themselves in the system. The youths are doing well in technology and other sectors of the economy. That is why I personally chose the publishing job because of my interest in education. I have different opinions of how we can express our anger and that makes our writing.
