ABUJA – The Federal Government of Nigeria has signed a pivotal purchase agreement with Siemens Healthineers, aimed at transforming cancer care infrastructure in the country.

This partnership, led by the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) under the coordination of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, focuses on enhancing six oncology centers with advanced cancer treatment technology.

The agreement, overseen by NSIA Managing Director Dr. Aminu Umar-Sadiq, not only includes a 30% discount on the high-tech equipment but also ensures extensive training for healthcare professionals who will operate it.

This initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s vision for healthcare reform under the National Health Sector Reform Implementation Initiative (NHSRII), with the first facilities expected to become operational by May 2025.

Professor Pate emphasized the importance of this strategic public-private partnership as a step toward delivering quality cancer care nationwide.

He commended Siemens for its commitment, reflected in the discounted pricing and continuous support, including fixed rates on equipment purchases through 2025.

The partnership marks a significant investment in Nigeria’s healthcare future, combining state-of-the-art technology with skilled personnel to improve patient outcomes and provide timely, quality cancer treatment within the country.
