Governor’s Office Police Officer Injured As Mob Break Into Oyo Secretariat During Protest Over Fuel, New Naira Notes Scarcity

Some angry youths have injured an inspector during a protest in Ibadan.

Naijanewshub.com.ng reports that some youths in their hundred on Fridays took to some major streets of Ibadan metropolis protesting over the scarcity of fuel and new naira notes.

The youths armed with dangerous weapons such as iron rods, stones, plastic chairs, broken bottles, among others were sighted at the entrance of Oyo state Secretariat blocked a portion of the road linking Bodija to Secretariat axis with burn fire.

Suddenly the protesters forced their way into the state Secretariat and headed straight to the governor’s office where one Inspector of police who was on duty at the main entrance of Governor’s office was injured.

Naijanewshub.com.ng gathered that the injured officer named Inspector Dynasty Layemo was stoned by the angry mobs while trying to prevent them from gaining access to the main governor’s office complex.

It was learnt that the officer has been rushed to the clinic for proper treatment.

As at the time of filling this reports the state joint security outfit known as Operation Burst, some police officers, including Amotekun officers were on ground to maintain law and order despite the fact that some civil servants on duty were in panic, as some of them were sighted running around for safety.

In his reaction, the Executive Assistant to Governor Makinde on Security Matters, CP. Sunday Odukoya rtd said, ” this protest is out of place, because what is happening affect everybody.

“You can’t start destroying government properties because you are affected by government policies, the issues at hand affect everybody, and the government are working to bring an end to it. He said.
