IBEDC Apologises For Widespread Power Outages Across Oyo, Kwara, Ogun, Osun, Ibadan Axis

IBADAN – THE Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has acknowledged the intermittent power supply and prolonged outage periods currently affecting customers across its franchise areas, including Oyo, Kwara, Ogun, Osun states and parts of Ibadan, expressing regret over the inconvenience caused.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, the electricity distribution company stated,
“IBEDC acknowledges the intermittent supply and extended outage periods currently being experienced by customers franchise wide… and sincerely regrets the inconvenience this has caused.”
The notice explained that the unstable supply being experienced by customers is due to a significant reduction in load allocation from the national grid.
According to IBEDC, “This situation is due to a reduction in load allocation from the national grid occasioned by gas supply limitations as reported by Nigerian Independent System Operator, (NISO) which has limited the electricity available for distribution within our franchise.”
The company added that it is actively engaging relevant stakeholders, including the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and NISO, to improve supply stability.
“IBEDC is actively engaging the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Nigeria Independent System Operator (NISO) to improve supply stability,” the notice read.
While efforts are ongoing to restore more stable electricity supply, the company said it has adopted interim measures to manage the limited power available.
“In the interim, available load is being strategically allocated and equitably distributed across feeders and service bands to ensure fairness and operational efficiency,” the notice stated.
The distribution company appealed to customers for patience and understanding, assuring them of its commitment to transparency and communication.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers and remain committed to keeping you informed as the situation evolves,” the statement concluded.
