IBEDC Clarifies Staff Termination Process, Dismisses Allegations of Wrongdoing

IBADAN – The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has denied allegations that it illegally terminated the appointments of 221 staff members.
In a statement, the company also dismissed claims by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) that it sacked approximately 3,000 employees, labeling them as false and misleading.
The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) once again wishes to address and correct the ongoing misinformation surrounding the alleged unlawful termination of 221 staff. We would like to categorically state that the claim by the Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo branch of sacking over 3,000 employees is completely false and misleading.

According to the statement, the individuals in question were outsourced personnel employed by a third-party human resources firm, Premier International Procurements and Logistics Limited, which seconded them to IBEDC.
The company emphasized that the third-party firm bears full responsibility for the employees, condemning the continuous call for picketing the company which in turn contribute negatively to the delivery of services to their customers.
As a business, we also strongly condemn for picketing, which cause significant disruptions and inconveniences to our customers, negatively affecting our ability to provide critical services that are vital for driving economic growth
Furthermore, the statement revealed that IBEDC’s parent company, PIPLL, has initiated necessary engagement with the affected personnel and the Ministry of Labour to resolve the matter.
The company also reaffirmed its commitment to upholding ethical Labour practices, and excellence in service, emphasizing its focus on delivery reliable electricity services to its customers.
