In Katsina, Police Foil Bandits Attack, Rescue 6 Kidnapped Victims

KATSINA – The Police has foiled a bandits attack and rescued six kidnapped victims in Jibia, Katsina state.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the state Police Public Relations Officer disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Katsina on Sunday.
According to him, on October 19th, 2024, at about 2325 hrs, a distress call was received at the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters on a bandits’ attack at Unguwar Batsaka quarters in Jibia town, in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically with intent to kidnap some residents of the area.
The DPO Jibia, he stated mobilised a team of operatives in collaboration with the military, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and vigilantes to the scene, where they engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel that lasted about an hour, forcing the bandits to flee the scene with various degrees of bullet injuries.
ASP Aliyu added that, the team successfully rescued six kidnapped victims and were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention due to injuries sustained as a result of the bandits attack.
However, regrettably, one of the victims, simply identified as Rabe Mai Shayi, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment, he explained.
Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects, the command’s image maker posited, adding that, further development would be communicated in due course.
“We urge anyone with useful information on suspected criminal activities to promptly report at the nearest police station for timely and decisive action”, he pleaded.
