Anambra: Soludo Re-Elected For Second Term Of Four Years, As INEC Declares Results Of Guber Polls

AKWA – INCUMBENT Governor of Anambra state, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo has officially been declared winner of the Anambra State Governorship election conducted on Saturday, November 8,2025, in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), in Edo State after announcing the results of the election early Sunday morning in Awka declared Soludo winner, thereby giving him the mandate for a second term of another four years in office.
The Returning Officer, while declaring the results noted that Prof Soludo polled a total of 422,664 votes to be re-elected for second term, while the All Progressives Congress, APC’ s, Nicholas Ukachukwu garnered a total 99,445 of total votes cast to come second.
“The election was contested and a winner emerged, the candidate with the highest number of votes cast, and percentage have all been computed. I, therefore, declare that Soludo Charles Chukwuma, of the APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law, has scored the highest number of votes in this election, is hereby, declared the winner, and return elected,” Omoregie said.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Anambra was yet to react on the outcome of the election as at the time of this report.
But the Labour Party candidate in the election,Chief George Moghalu said he would come up with formal reaction later in the day.
The ADC candidate, Chief Chuma Nwosu also postponed his reaction to later today.
However, his aide , Hon Ben Chuks Nwosu , a lawyer, decried the entire election as nauseating.
“It was akin to an open stock market of cash buying and selling of votes at the polling areas all over the state”, he said.
Chief Dozie Nwankwo, a chieftain of APGA and a two-time House of Representatives member said the outcome was expected.
Nwankwo, a former Anambra Central senatorial district candidate on APGA platform in the 2023 general elections said,”The Governorship poll result wasn’t surprising to anyone.Any keen and sincere follower of trends in Anambra State knows that Soludo would have no real challenge.
“He did so well that everyone wants the solution to continue for the next four years. I think Soludo deserves a second term in office so as not to interrupt all ongoing solution projects he initiated across the state.
“You should also note that there’s a conventional zoning arrangement in the state at the moment.And Soludo having come from the South zone as Prince Ukachukwu has done four years.
“After,it shifts to the Central zone and to the North zone in that order. I think the people of the state didn’t want to disrupt the zoning flow of events and governance in Anambra.
“I humbly congratulate him and APGA for this landslide victory”, he said.
