A Group within the Labour Party known as the Labour Party Patriotic Members Congress, (LPPMC) has called on members of the party and the Obedient families to sheath the swords and embrace peace for the party to move forward.

LPPMC in a press release signed by its National Coordinator, Dr Kingsley Okundaye, called for an end to litigation on party chairmanship, saying with the ruling of Wednesday, 6th March, 2024, by the Appeal Court that sat in Abuja which affirmed Barrister Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, the time is now to heal the party and end all forms of crisis.

A copy of the statement made available to Naijanewshub online Newspaper titled, “There must be an end to litigation”.

LPPMC through the statement also congratulated Abure on his victory at the Appeal Court and call on him to move the party forward.

“As patriotic members of the Labour Party, we believe that the time is now for us to do the needful and heal the party.”

“This legal duel had not only mired the party NWC into fierce and notorious leadership conundrum but had afflicted, bruised and caused the party dire but avoidable consequences with disintegration of the party leaderships in the States, losses in the off-season elections and the depletion of membership base across the Country.

“Sadly enough, no notable nor concerted efforts were made by the critical stakeholders of the party to mitigate and intervene in resolving the issue.

“Overtime, it cascaded and became a scathing challenge to the Party; leading to the recent patriotic and albitrative intervention of our group – the Labour Party Patriotic Members Congress(LPPMC), in trying to restore Peace and Unity.

“We engaged the critical stakeholders of the party in a meeting held on the 25th Jan, 2024. The said meeting was to provoke genial conversations and proffer vital solutions for a perpetual unity, peace, and progress in the party leaderships”, the group said.

The group said as a way forward for the party, the leadership should engage in an unbiased harmonisation of fragmented membership structures at all levels towards building a stronger, united, and peaceful Party across the nation.

It also pleads that all parties must withdraw their pending cases in Courts, imbibe the spirit of patriotism and sportsmanship, sheath their swords, and give peace a chance.

“There must be an end to litigation hence all the aggrieved groups should enforce this peaceful clarion call on their followers as to move this party forward as a united front.

“The LPPMC is open and willing to partner with the National and State leaderships of the party to engage in swift, comprehensive membership drive across the nation. Thus, we seize this opportunity to plead with all the faithful pro-LP Obi-dient Families to go and obtain the LP membership Cards in their various Wards.

“Finally, we call on the party Stakeholders, members and Obi-dient families alike, to rally round the National leadership to birth that LP of our collective dream; with special interest in ensuring that we win both the Edo and Ondo States’ gubernatorial elections come September and November this year respectively. We as a body shall complement any commitment that will engender the required victories in the aforementioned state elections”, the group said.
