Efan Ekoku was the first Nigerian to play in the Premier League (since the Premier League era).

He is the third Nigerian leading goal scorer in the Premier League with 52 goals, behind Kanu Nwankwo (54) and Yakubu Aiyegbeni (95).

In September 1993, he became the first African player to score a Premier League Hattrick in Norwich City’s 5-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park. He actually scored four goals in that game, becoming the first ever player to score more than three goals in a Premier League game.

At international level, he made six appearances for the Nigerian national team.

Following his retirement, Ekoku has worked as a commentator, a pundit and match analyst.

He was inducted into the Norwich City Hall of Fame in 2012.
