Obidient Movement In Oyo Condemns Recent Killings In Benue, Plateau

IBADAN – The Obidient Movement, Oyo State Chapter, deeply mourns the recent killings in Benue and Plateau States, allegedly carried out by terrorist elements, and extends their heartfelt condolences to the citizens of these states, especially those residing in Oyo State.

In a statement released today by the Public Relations Officer of the Movement, Mr. Jeje Ibukun, the Oyo State Obidient Movement, under the leadership of Ayo Akinyemi, condemned the heinous acts and expressed their empathy and solidarity with the victims and their families.

“We stand in deep sorrow with our brothers and sisters from Benue and Plateau who are currently mourning the senseless loss of lives back home,” the statement reads. *“The spate of violence in these regions are not only heartbreaking, but also a tragic reminder of the urgent need for a proactive and responsive governance, justice system and a total rejig of the Nigerian security architecture.”*

The Obidient Movement reaffirms its commitment to a peaceful, secured, and united Nigeria, where the sanctity of life is preserved above all. The statement urged the three tiers of government to not only investigate the attacks thoroughly and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice, but to utilize their security votes to ensure that lives and properties of citizens are truly protected…enough of reactive approach to security of lives and properties of citizens, it is time to be proactive.

“Our hearts go out to every family that has lost loved ones, every displaced person, every community now living in fear in their own fatherland, and every Nigerian who believes in a country where peace and equity can truly reign,” the release concluded.

The Obidient Movement, a coalition of citizens advocating for good governance, transparency, and national rebirth, continues to lend its voice against all forms of injustice and impunity.
