Olatunji Disu Assumes Duty As CP FCT Command

ABUJA – The newly appointed Commissioner of Police (CP), FCT Police Command, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Monday assumed duty as the 32nd CP in the capital city.
CP Disu who took over from AIG Benneth Igweh, who is now at Zone 7 promised to “building upon his groundwork” while vowing Zero-Tolerance on all forms of crime and criminality.
The immediate past CP of Rivers State while addressing newsmen at the Command Headquarters, also assured that his administration will “strengthen partnerships with local organizations, community leaders, and other stakeholders.”
According to him; “It is both an honor and a privilege to stand before you today as the new Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for entrusting me with this critical responsibility.
“As I assume this role, I am acutely aware of the security challenges facing the FCT and the foundational work laid by my predecessors to maintain relative peace. I am committed to building upon this groundwork and enhancing our efforts to significantly improve the security situation in our territory.

“To those who seek to disrupt the tranquility of the FCT, I send a clear and resolute message: my tenure will be marked by a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of crime and criminality. We will not waver in our commitment to safeguarding our community, ensuring that law enforcement is both effective and respectful of the rights of all citizens.”
CP Disu further stated that; “Our airm is to strengthen our partnerships with local organizations, community leaders, and other stakeholders. Together, we will foster trust and collaborate on innovative strategies to address the security concerns that affect our residents. Your insights and feedback will be invaluable as we navigate these challenges together, and we will actively encourage feedback from members of the public to refine our approach.”
In addition, he noted that his administration will prioritize Community Policing. “We will enhance our community policing initiatives to ensure that our officers are more visible and accessible, fostering a sense of safety and trust among residents.
“Intelligence Gathering. Strengthening our intelligence-gathering capabilities will be crucial in preemptively addressing potential threats and criminal activities. Technology Integration. We will leverage modern technology to aid our policing efforts, utilizing tools such as data analytics and surveillance systems to enhance our operational efficiency and response times.
“Training and Development. Continuous training for our officers will be emphasized to ensure they are equipped with the latest techniques and knowledge in modern policing. Public Engagement: We will actively engage the public through town hall meetings and outreach programs to create a stronger bond between the police and the community.
“To the general public, I urge your support and active participation in our policing efforts. Policing is a collective responsibility, and together, we can create a safer and more secure environment for all.”
CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu psc, was born on the 13th of April, 1966. He is from Lagos state. The CP attended the Lagos State University in 1990 where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English Education. In the year 2000, his quest for educational advancement earned him a Post Graduate Diploma in International Relations and Strategic Studies from the same Lagos State University.
He went on to acquire a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the celebrated Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba, Ondo state. He further extended his academic pursuit by acquiring a Master’s degree in Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology from the Lagos state University in 2022.
CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu got appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as an Assistant Superintendent of Police on the 18th of May 1992 and had his training at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano state.
The CP has served in the Nigeria Police Force in many capacities such as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Owo, Ondo state Police Command, the Divisional Police Officer, Ikare, Ondo state Police Command, the Officer in Charge, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Rivers state Police Command, officer in Charge Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ondo state Police Command and officer in Charge Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Oyo state Police Command.
He was one time Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the former Governor of Lagos state, the CP was once the Officer in Charge, Anti-Fraud Unit, SCID, Katsina State Police Command, he once served as the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigations Department, Rivers state Police Command, he served as the Commander Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos state Police Command, the CP was at one time Commander of the IGPs Intelligence Response Team (IRT) FHQ Abuja, he was once (DCP) Admin, department of Operations, FHQ, Abuja.

Also, the Commissioner of Police was once (CP) Admin, Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) FHQ, one time the Officer in Charge of Training, Nigeria Police Peace Keeping Department where he led the first ever Nigerian Police Contingents on an African Union Mission to quell the crisis in Dafur Sudan and was the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the present Inspector General of Police before his posting as the Commissioner of Police Rivers State Police Command.
CP Olatunji has attended several professional courses both within and outside Nigeria, some of which include; Small Arms Smuggling Course in Botswana. Internet Fraud detection and prevention course at Cambridge University, United Kingdom. International Symposium on Economic Crimes, in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
He is also a member of several professional organizations such as International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals. Member International Academy of Forensics (IAF). Member, National Association of Investigative Specialist, United States of America (NAIS). Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). Member, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and Member, International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).
