Oyo First Lady Lauds Hon Abass ‘Agboworin’ For Empowering Over 200 Women, PWDs Others With Start-Up Kits, Cash

IBADAN – The wife of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde has commended Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, a federal lawmaker representing Ibadan Northeast, Southeast Constituency for various laudable human orientated programmes.
Mrs Makinde lauded Hon Agboworin for touching the lives of the people of his Constituency positively.
Speaking as a special guest at an empowerment program facilitated by Hon Abass Adigun Agboworin, the Oyo State First Lady linked Agboworin’s empowerment initiatives to an opportunities for skills development among the women, youths and people living with disability in the state.
The empowerment scheme which was held at Apex Hall, opposite Yidi Praying Ground Agodi Gate Ibadan, the Capital City of Oyo State, on Saturday was graced by notable leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as over one hundred women and youths that have been trained on soap, toilet disinfectant and liquid bleach productions received their certificate of participation from the National Directorate of Empowerment (NDE), start-up kits such as gas cylinders and burners, soap chemical mixer machine worth N250,000 each and a fifty thousand naira (50,000) cash support.
The beneficiaries of the empowerment initiatives also included over one hundred people living with disability, as one hundred tricycles, 20 crutches, 10 walkers were freely distributed for the disabled persons to aid their daily business activities as they move around for their lawful engagements.
Mrs Makinde in her speech said, “I thank you my brother, Agboworin, for touching the lives of the people. When we did something like this in 2023, people were not as much as this. But today, I can see much people in here. I appreciate him for doing this.”

“Hon Agboworin is dedicated and committed to empower the people of his Constituency with the rightful skill acquisitions, instead of killing fish for his people, he always train them on how to kill fish by themselves, and this is a very good idea, he has been empowering them with the skills and knowledge so they too can stand on their own, this is a very good initiative, and I really commend him for bringing dividend of democracy to the people of his Constituency.
“I am glad that Honorable Agboworin always prioritize women in his empowerment initiatives, today after a two weeks training, the beneficiaries, upon their graduation today Saturday, 19th 2025 are presented with certificate, start up kits and cash of fifty thousand naira (N50,000) each to start their businesses, this will go a long way in addressing economic hardship in our country, the beneficiaries are expected to make good use of their training, their start-up kits, and the money given to them judiciously.
The Oyo state First Lady advised the beneficiaries to see the training as an opportunity to expand the business into large scale venture, in order to create more opportunities for people of Oyo state.
She also charged other political office holders and stakeholders to invest more in capacity building that will improve the livelihood of Nigerians.
Mr Silas Agara, the Director General of the National Directorate of Empowerment (NDE) in his address lauded Hon Agboworin for always remembering his people.
Agara who was represented by the Oyo State Director of NDE Mrs Steve Ogundipe Olayinka said the Hon Abass Adigun Agboworin is so passionate about touching the lives of his people, stressing that he had taught the beneficiaries how to become employers of labour and contribute to the socio-economic development of the state.
While fielding journalists shortly after the empowerment programme, Hon Abass Adigun Agboworin said the business was chosen for beneficiaries because of its importance to household daily consumption.
He appealed to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the start up kits, to support their husbands in the home front.200
