Oyo First Lady Presents Cash, Gifts To First Baby Of 2026 In Oluyole LG

IBADAN  –  THE wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, on Wednesday presented cash and gift items to the first baby born in the state in 2026, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maternal and child healthcare.

The presentation took place at Adaramagbo Primary Health Care Centre, Olomi Olorunkemi area of Ibadan, in Oluyole Local Government Area, where the baby was delivered at exactly 12:20 a.m. by the mother, Mrs. Olajire Rihanat.

Mrs. Makinde was represented at the event by the Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubumi Oni (Mni), and the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, who conveyed the goodwill of the First Lady to the mother and her family.

Speaking during the presentation, Mrs. Oni described the birth as a positive sign for the year ahead, noting that the annual gesture of honouring the first baby of the year reflects the state government’s dedication to the welfare of mothers and newborns, particularly at the primary healthcare level.

She urged expectant mothers across the state to continue to utilise government health facilities to ensure safe deliveries.

In her remarks, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ajetunmobi, reiterated the state government’s resolve to further strengthen healthcare delivery, especially in maternal and child health services.

She assured that the administration would continue to invest in healthcare infrastructure, skilled personnel and essential medical services across the state.

Also present at the event were the wife of the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Mrs. Balikis Olatunji; the Matron of the facility, Mrs. Ajayi Abiola; special assistants, health workers and other stakeholders.

Mrs. Olatunji expressed delight at the gesture, describing the governor’s wife as a compassionate and selfless mother who has consistently demonstrated commitment to uplifting vulnerable members of society.

She noted that the gift items would provide immediate support to the mother and newborn, while assuring continued collaboration between the local government and the state government to expand access to quality healthcare services.

The mother of the baby, Mrs. Olajire Rihanat, expressed gratitude to the Oyo State Government and the First Lady for the support, describing the gesture as timely and encouraging. She offered prayers for the governor and his administration and expressed optimism for greater achievements by the First Family in the state.
