Dr. Adebukola Ajaja has explained why Alhaji Nalado cannot dissolve Oyo state Accord Party Exco.

Naijanewshub.com.ng reports that the National Secretary of Accord Party, Dr. (Mrs.) Adebukola Ajaja stated that the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Lawal Nalado has no right to dissolve the state exco, noting that she was not aware of the dissolution letter which should have emanated from her office as the national secretary.

Ajaja in her words described Nalado’s move as illegal, null and void.

Ajaja made this known while speaking during the state stakeholders meeting held at Pentonrise Event Center, Bodija, Ibadan.

She said, “the executive members of Accord party in Oyo State remains the same and undissolved, no one can remove the state executive without my signature.

Recall that the national chairman of Accord Party dissolved the state executive after the Prince Ojo Kolade led faction declared support for Gov Seyi Makinde just few days to the March 18 gubernatorial election.

Ajaja in her reaction said, “as the national secretary of the party, I’m telling you that I’m not aware of the dissolution or any letter sent to the State Executives.

She further said, “I don’t know anything about any meeting to dissolve anybody.I need to sign the document before anybody can dissolve anyone. It’s I and the chairman that can sign the letter to dissolve anybody. So I don’t know anything about it.”

“Even if we are going to dissolve anybody, we are going to invite them for questioning. Right now, Accord Party in the state Exco is still one, and led by Prince Kolade Ojo. All our members are one and we are not divided.”

She said, Nalado’s letter did not hold any water, Kolade Ojo remained the state chairman; while  Olayinka Dairo remained secretary and other state excos until we have another congress.

While speaking on the reason why the state executive refused to support the Gubernatorial candidate of the party, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Ajaja said, “I’m not meant to be involved in the State party affairs, except if I’m called. What I know is that Adelabu refused to work with the State executives. I don’t even know if Adelabu is still a member of the party, only him can say for himself. I know of the members that are present here. I can’t say for him”.

Speaking on the reason why Accord Party form coalition with Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, a member of the House of Representatives, representing Iseyin/Iwajowa/Itesiwaju/Kajola Federal Constituency, who also doubles as the Ayedero of Yorubaland, Hon.Shina Peller, disclosed that the alliance was a necessary move in order to rescue the party from total loss.

The lawmaker noted that the alliance was in consideration of continued good governance and betterment of party members and the people of the state in general.

Peller said, “the state working committee of Accord Party took a  necessary rescue step to salvage the party from what I perceived as the high handedness of the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Bayo Adelabu.

According to him, lack of synergy and complaints of one man show exhibited Adelabu during the last general elections, made the coalition imperative.

He noted that Accord did not collapse its structure, but only worked with Governor Makinde and for the overall interest of the state.

Peller said there was the need to commend the contributions of members in the re-election of the incumbent governor, adding that the governor has acknowledged the enormous support.

He said the party decided to review party’s strength and political technicalities after the 2023 February 25 presidential and national assembly elections and saw the need for a coalition with the PDP candidate.

“We came out of an election without winning a seat out of the three Senatorial districts and out of the fourteen Reps seats and we’re a third force party, a new party for that matter competing with the likes of APC and PDP, so the only thing we had to do then was to look for the best candidate out of the APC and PDP. All we presented before our governorship candidate were facts, even our guber candidate did not win his polling unit.”

“We thank God that parochial political interest or religious sentiments did not becloud our reasoning in making political decision. We worked for Governor  Makinde for many reasons. First, 2023 politics is all about personality and not the party, and so we are so much concerned with this. Also, after the presidential election in which we lost, I met with Adelabu about our chances and he refused to listen to the technicalities on ground, so he refused to listen to us and worked with us, so we had no chance”.

“Again we can all see the works of Seyi makinde for the Oke-ogun people, he built the many consequential roads for the Oke-ogun people, like the Ibadan-Iseyin roads, Ogbomosho-iseyin roads among others. He also gave us the first university in Oke-ogun in 70 years. So we made a great choice”.

Earlier in his address, the State Chairman of the party, Prince Ojo Kolade welcomed every member, he also called on all the aggrieved party members to come back home, so that we can become one.
