Oyo Lawmaker, Hon. Mabaje Calls For Urgent Renovation of Roads In Ido/ Akinyele State Constituencies

IBADAN – The Lawmaker representing Ido State Constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Rasak Mabaje has called for urgent renovation of Some roads situated along Ido and Akinyele Local Government areas inorder to pave the way for easy vehicular movement in the axis.
Hon. Mabaje made the call on Wednesday while presenting a motion during the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.

In his motion, Hon. Mabaje described the deplorable condition of Apete Junction to Yidi Arola – Ariyibi – Ayegun – Olomoasanmajana – Onikaninkanin as a very alarming situation that calls for urgent intervention inorder to curb the prevalence of accidents that increases day by day, resulting in injuries and fatalities.
“The current state of the roads poses significant safety risks. These risks are exacerbated by the road’s deplorable condition, making it difficult for vehicles to navigate safely. The lack of proper drainage systems usually leads to waterlogging during rains, further compromising road safety and increasing the likelihood of accidents.”
He added that the present poor road conditions in the area has brought set back to economic opportunities , hence the limitations to development in the environment.
“The economic activities is being adversely affected. Transport delays and higher vehicle maintenance costs hinder productivity and economic growth. Poor road conditions discourage investment and development in the area, limiting economic opportunities, and stunting growth of local business.” The motion stated.

“The daily stress and inconvenience experienced by commuters contribute to a decline in the overall quality of life for residents. The condition of the roads deter potential business owners and visitors, limiting social and interaction.” He added.
The House has however urged the State Government to urgently direct the concern Agency, OYSROMA, to embark on rehabilitation of the damaged roads so as to ease vehicular movement, avert reoccurrence of truck accidents and revitalise the economic activities at both local Government area and its environs.
