IBADAN – THE Oyo State Police Command has declared its readiness to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, who noted that the Command had put in place a comprehensive security arrangement ahead of the two-day event.
According to the statement, the convention is expected to attract high-profile political actors, international observers, media representatives, and thousands of party members from across the country. In anticipation of the massive turnout, Osifeso said the Command—working in collaboration with other security agencies—has developed a “robust security strategy.”
The measures include intensified patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-driven stop-and-search activities across the state. Security presence will be heightened at major entry and exit points, while critical public infrastructure such as parks, train stations and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport will be closely monitored.
The Command advised residents to consider alternative routes around the Adamasingba axis throughout the convention period to ease movement and prevent congestion.
Osifeso warned against any form of public disturbance, including unauthorized rallies or gatherings before, during, or after the event, stressing that the police would not hesitate to maintain order where necessary.
He urged members of the public to comply with security directives, assist in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere, and immediately report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
