Oyo Police Command Confirms Abduction Of JCI Ibadan President, Ibukun Otesile

•IBADAN – THE Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Mrs. Ibukun Otesile, the 2025 President of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan Elite, outside her home on Thursday evening, raising concerns over security in the state.
Otesile, who is the daughter of Olalekan Babatunde, founder and General Overseer of Jesus Is King Ministries, Ibadan, and a mother of two, was reportedly kidnapped in the General Gas area of Akobo, Ibadan, around 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 4.
The incident quickly gained attention on social media, prompting widespread concern among residents and religious communities. Olamide Olanrewaju, Personal Assistant to Apostle Joshua Sola Akinyemiju, outgoing chairman of the Oyo State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), confirmed the development to journalists on Friday.
According to Olanrewaju, the abduction occurred directly in front of Otesile’s home. CAN members were alerted about 8:45 pm via their WhatsApp group, with immediate calls for prayers and support.
He said,
“The daughter of our beloved Reverend Dr. Lekan Babatunde was kidnapped Thursday night around 8:00 pm. Everyone in the group became worried and started praying. I also tagged Rev Moses, the Chaplain of the Oyo State Police Force Headquarters, to ensure the alert reached the authorities.”
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the abduction, stating,
“She was kidnapped on Thursday night. Investigation is ongoing.”
Meanwhile, CAN has appealed to the Nigerian Army Headquarters and the Nigeria Police Force to deploy all available resources to secure her immediate release.
A concerned Ibadan resident said,“The family, along with CAN and all well-meaning Nigerians, earnestly requests that information about her whereabouts be shared widely and relayed to the appropriate security authorities.
This publication however understands that the Oyo State Police Command in Eleyele is actively investigating the incident, though, as of this report, there are no further details regarding the kidnappers or any ransom demands.
