Oyo State @50: Committee Announces Logo, Theme, Mascot Challenge

IBADAN – AS preparations intensify for the 50th anniversary of Oyo State’s creation, the committee in charge of the celebration has unveiled a creative challenge for the design of the official logo, theme, and mascot of the golden jubilee.
Speaking at a press conference in Ibadan on Monday, the Chairman of the Oyo @50 Celebration Committee, Hon. Saheed Akinade-Fijabi, said the initiative is aimed at promoting creativity, inclusiveness, and unity among indigenes of the state.
Akinade-Fijabi, a two-term member of the House of Representatives, described the forthcoming golden jubilee as “a reflection of Oyo State’s identity, strength, coexistence, and shared dreams.”
He revealed that the celebration would feature events across all geopolitical zones of the state, adding that every sector of society would be involved.
> “We shall involve all strata of the society—regardless of age, gender, religion, belief, or career. The Executive, Legislature, Judiciary, traditional and religious bodies, artisans, students, farmers, and entrepreneurs will all have roles to play as we celebrate our dear Pacesetter State,” he said.
Announcing the creative competition, Akinade-Fijabi called on residents and Nigerians at large to participate by submitting their entries that capture the essence of Oyo State’s golden jubilee—its rich past, vibrant present, and ambitious future.
“In the spirit of inclusion and creativity, we are inviting the general public and creative minds across Oyo State and beyond to submit their designs for the Oyo @50 Logo, Theme, and Mascot Challenge,” he announced.
“The winning design will become the official emblem of the Oyo @50 celebrations, symbolizing the pride and unity of our people.”
Entries, according to the committee, should be submitted within one week to the email oyostate50@oyostate.gov.ng or via WhatsApp (09163121000). Winners of the contest will receive attractive rewards.
Hon. Akinade-Fijabi urged all indigenes to use the celebration as an opportunity to renew their commitment to the growth and development of the state.
“As we prepare for this landmark celebration, let us all renew our commitment to building an Oyo State that is greater, stronger, and more inclusive—a state that continues to lead in education, governance, enterprise, and innovation,” he said.
