Panic In Zamfara Community As Bandits Kidnap 50 Elders On Reconciliation Trip

ABUJA   –   THERE was panic in Zamfara State on Monday after armed bandits kidnapped 50 elders from Magamin Diddi village while they were on a reconciliation mission in Maradun Local Government Area.

The victims were said to be en route to a dialogue aimed at resolving ongoing community tensions and insecurity in the area when the attackers ambushed them and whisked them away to an unknown destination.

Habib Sumna, a resident of Magamin Diddi who lives in Gusau expressed shock over the incident, saying: “It was too risky, but they agreed to go on. My fear has been confirmed,” he said.

Community sources said the incident has thrown Magamin Diddi village and surrounding settlements into panic, with families anxiously awaiting updates on the whereabouts and condition of the abducted elders.

The abductors were said to have made no contact or demand at the time of filing this report.

Authorities too, are yet to release an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
