PDP Organs Storm Abuja, Close Ranks Behind Turaki’s New NWC

ABUJA – A fresh wave of loyalty swept through the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the weekend as its statutory organs and leadership blocs closed ranks around the newly elected National Working Committee (NWC) led by Barr. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN.
This comes almost a month after the party’s 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, where the NWC emerged with a mandate to repair fractures, rebuild trust, and re-energise the PDP ahead of crucial 2026 and 2027 electoral battles.
From state chairmen across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to the PDP caucuses in both chambers of the National Assembly, and from former governors to ex-ministers and former members of the NWC, the flood of solidarity has taken on the air of a political pilgrimage to Abuja.
All the organs have lined up behind the new leadership, scheduling back-to-back meetings with Turaki’s team throughout the week.
According to the engagement schedule, the NWC opens its session on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, when it meets state chairmen, members of the House of Representatives and the national ex-officio.
At this meeting, the committee will formally present a Certificate of Return to the PDP’s candidate for the June 20, 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede.
The unity drive continues on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, with a high-powered convergence of former PDP governors, former ministers and former NWC members.
The Senate caucus takes its turn the next day, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, in what party insiders describe as a crucial strategic review.
Behind these meetings lies the new NWC’s mission to stabilise the party after the Ibadan convention and chart a fresh direction capable of restoring the PDP to national relevance ahead of the coming election season.
In a related move, the PDP NWC has constituted the Osun State Governorship Appeal Panel to review appeals from the recently conducted governorship primary for the 2026 race. The panel is chaired by the PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN, and is scheduled to sit on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Bauchi Governors Lodge, Tatari Ali House, Behind Ecowas Secretariat, Asokoro District, Abuja at 11:00 am.

The panel, according to the PDP, “is expected to be guided strictly by the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), the Electoral Guidelines for Party Primary and Electoral Act, 2022.”
With the meetings lined up and the appeal panel in motion, the PDP appears determined to project unity, reinforce discipline, and signal readiness for the political battles ahead.
