PDP Sweeps Osun LG Polls, Wins All 30 Chairman Seats As OSSIEC Declares Landslide Victory

OSOGBO – The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of all chairmanship and councillorship positions in the local government elections held across the state on Saturday.

Announcing the results at a press conference in Osogbo, OSSIEC Chairman Hashim Abioye stated that the PDP secured an overwhelming victory in all 30 local government areas (LGAs) of the state, including the Area Councils.

Despite initial controversies surrounding the conduct of the elections, Abioye described the process as peaceful and successful.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, who cast his vote in his hometown of Ede, commended residents for their participation in the democratic process and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development.

The Osun State High Court in Ilesa had earlier ruled in favor of the election proceeding, following a lawsuit filed by the PDP. With this ruling, OSSIEC moved forward with the polls, culminating in the landslide victory for the ruling party.

The opposition parties are yet to officially react to the outcome of the elections, but political analysts predict that the results may spark debates over the transparency and competitiveness of the electoral process in the state.
